Jackson State is committed to providing students with a flexible course schedule, allowing students to maintain a synchronous schedule between high school and college classes.
This depends on your student's educational goals. Do they want to earn an associate degree while they attend high school? If so, Middle College would be the best option.
Would they prefer to earn college credit that they can transfer later? In that case, dual enrollment would be a better fit.
Our Middle College awards $2,000 each semester. If eligibility is lost, the student may switch to Dual Enrollment Grant to cover remaining courses. Estimated cost not covered by grant is $1,035 plus cost of textbooks/courseware. This assumes the use of 12 local dual credit hours and switching to the dual enrollment grant during the last semester.
The Dual Enrollment Grant fully covers the student's first five courses. Estimated tuition and fees to cover an associate degree not covered by the dual enrollment grant is $5,000 plus cost of textbooks/courseware. This assumes the use of 12 local dual credit hours.
These estimates are based on current 2024-2025 JSCC Dual Enrollment tuition.
