Jul 18th, 2024

Jackson State Community College (JSCC) has appointed Cecily Freeman as the new Executive Director of the JSCC Foundation following the restructuring of the college’s Institutional Advancement, Marketing, and Campus Engagement Office.

Freeman brings nearly 20 years of experience in the non-profit sector to the role with 15 years of higher education focused resource development, alumni and industry relations, and advancement operations. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accountancy from the University of Memphis.

“I’m very excited and grateful to step into this role here at Jackson State,” said Freeman. “The College and President Rothstein have been very welcoming and I’m eager to get to know the Hub City and surrounding communities. Lindsey Tritt has made a yeoman’s effort over the past five years. I have high hopes for the Foundation’s next chapter as we build upon her success!”

During her time as the Director of Corporate and Donor Relations at the Southern College of Optometry (SCO) she increased and maintained 12 consecutive years of 90%+ participation for Faculty/Staff Campaign including a record-breaking 95% participation. Freeman was recognized for her work on the record-breaking capital campaign and advancement of philanthropy at SCO in 2013 when she received the President’s Special recognition award for outstanding achievement.

In her most recent position as Executive Director of the Nashville State Community College (NSCC) Foundation, Freeman oversaw a $1.6 million operating budget resulting in a 200% surge in program delivery in the 2022-23 fiscal year. She also led an $11 million campaign for the NSCC Foundation to fund campus expansions and programs.

“I’m thrilled to have Cecily joining our team at Jackson State,” said Dr. Carol A Rothstein, JSCC President. “As someone who has personally worked with Cecily during my time at Nashville State, I have seen the impact she brings to the table and know that she will be an invaluable addition to our Foundation team. I look forward to seeing our Foundation and community engagement grow under her leadership.”

Freeman has also served as a fellow for the Nashville Chamber of Commerce’s leadership Public Education Program and as a tnAchieves mentor working with graduating high school seniors to encourage post-secondary pursuits.

Freeman assumed her role on July 15.

Following the restructuring, Lindsey Tritt, Director of Community Development and Foundation, has been named the Director of Donor Relations and Programs for the JSCC Foundation. She served in her previous role for over four years, proving instrumental in member growth of the Foundation Board and the re-establishment of the JSCC Alumni Association.

Henry Kilpatrick, the current Managing Director of Institutional Advancement, Marketing & Campus Engagement, will shift into the role of Chief Marketing and Communications Officer and will lead the Office of Marketing and Communications.
