Campus Guide

Here is a cheat sheet to help find anything you need on campus.

Bookstore — This is your quick stop for snacks, supplies and JSCC swag. 

• jHub (Help desk in the Student Center) — They can provide your parking pass and help with other campus-related questions.

Library — As an employee, you can check out books from our library free of charge and request books from a national registry.

Office of Information Technology (OIT) — This will be your resource for getting your computer set up and accessing systems such as jWeb, Slate, Dynamic Forms, and more.

Green Jay Quad is where you will see lots of student activities including our annual "Welcome Back Bash" (which you are invited to, by the way).

Athletics offers a chance for employees to attend games for free along with access to the Fitness Center in the Gymnasium.

Food trucks visit campus Monday-Thursday in the walkway between the Student Center and the Jim Moss Center for Nursing when classes are in session.

Ayers Auditorium, located in the Ned R. McWherter Center (Building 12), is home to many of our all-employee assemblies such as convocation, State of the College, and more. You will see this named in many emails, so now you know!

The Dr. Mechel Camp Teaching & Learning Center in the Walter L. Nelms Classroom Building (Building 10) provides ongoing professional development opportunities.

Need a vehicle for official JSCC travel? Contact Maintenance and Operations to reserve a vehicle at Building 8.

 

 

Get to Know Jackson

You can find almost anything you need within a short drive from the JSCC campus. We are only 10 minutes from downtown Jackson. Check out the Downtown Jackson website for places to eat, shop, and hang out.

Local Spots

Whether you’re looking for a quick hand-made latte or some of the best comfort food in town, Jackson has plenty of local options for you to experience.

 The Blacksmith — This favorite for American-style fare is located in downtown Jackson near the Farmers Market.

 ComeUnity Café — Their mission is to provide nutritious and delicious meals to the people of Jackson regardless of their ability to pay. Check socials for their rotating daily menu. Proceeds support the community.

 Jackson’s Kitchen & Catering — This popular lunch spot is located in the heart of downtown Jackson.

 Turntable Coffee Counter — This local coffee shop offers plenty of room to work remotely and enjoy their coffee, teas, and pastries.

Campus Food Trucks

Need to grab a quick lunch? A regular rotation of local food trucks visit the JSCC campus Monday-Thursday when classes are in session. Keep an eye on the walkway between the Student Center and the Nursing building to see who is on site.

As Jackson continues to grow, so does the variety of events and venues. Here are a few places to watch for upcoming events.

 Jackson's Amphitheater at the Market (The AMP) — Outdoor live music venue in downtown Jackson

 The Carnegie Center for Arts and History — Museum and events venue in downtown Jackson, located in the historic Jackson Free Library

 The Ned R. McWherter West Tennessee Cultural Arts Center (The Ned) — Cultural center hosting plays, concerts, and art exhibits

West Tennessee Farmers Market — Outdoor market offering fresh produce, baked goods, and more
