Jackson State Community College offers counseling services to bolster student success. Its comprehensive and accessible program includes assistance with academic, career, and personal concerns.

Mental Health Counseling
Professional mental health counseling is available to currently enrolled students each fall and spring semester. It is free and confidential. To reach the JSCC counselor, email scounselor@jscc.edu or call (731) 424-3520, ext. 50260.
For emergencies, call 9-1-1.

- Carey Counseling Center, Inc. - Serves the following West Tennessee counties: Benton, Carroll, Gibson, Henry, and Obion
- Quinco Mental Health Centers - Serves the West Tennessee counties: Chester, Decatur, Hardeman, Madison, and McNairy.
- Pathways Behavioral Health Services - Serves the following West Tennessee counties: Dyer, Gibson, Haywood, Henderson, Madison, and Obion

Signs that someone may need counseling
Changes in their usual behavior.
- Increasing irrational or aggressive behavior.
- Seeming sad or depressed.
- Increased isolation or withdrawal from people.
- Lack of energy.
- Odd behavior or speech.
- Sudden decline in school performance.
- Changes in personal hygiene and dress.
- Increased anxiety
Counseling Confidentiality
All internet/email discussions are kept private except, by law, information about injury, endangerment, or abuse. In such serious cases of danger, the ethical duty to warn supersedes privacy.
Our employer reserves the right to monitor internet and email usage, and this may result in someone, an outside third party, seeing the text of your email.
We are unable to guarantee confidentiality, but we will make every effort to ensure privacy. If you are concerned about the contents of your email being read by someone other than the individual you are contacting, you might want to consider an alternate means of contact.
