JSCC Accepted FAQs

This initiative is designed to help local high school seniors transition smoothly into college by guaranteeing a spot at the institution. By being a Hardeman County high school student, you are automatically a Jackson State Green Jay!

Students do not need to complete a traditional application. The college receives student information directly from the school district and uses that data to create the application. Students will receive further instructions after that.

No. Students must still complete the FAFSA and any other required financial aid documents. The program ensures a place at the college, but most of our students receive funding from the PELL grant, TN Promise, and the Hope Scholarship.

Absolutely. Students are encouraged to apply for institutional scholarships, Tennessee Promise, and other local or statewide funding opportunities. Visit our Costs and Aid web page for more information.

The initiative strengthens the local workforce, increases educational attainment, and supports families by making college more accessible and predictable.

Please reach out to our enrollment team at recruiting@jscc.edu!

The guaranteed spot applies to general enrollment at the college. Some specialized programs (such as professional programs within our School of Healthcare Professions) have additional requirements, limited capacity, and separate application processes.

Students will have an Enrollment Counselor assigned to them to help talk through majors and any questions about Green Jay Nation. Once enrolled, students will be assigned both a Success Advisor and Faculty Mentor to ensure they are completing classes and moving along successfully.

There is no penalty. Students can choose a different college or pursue other plans. JSCC Accepted simply provides an opportunity—not an obligation.
