In addition to the four online degrees, seven certificates will be offered online in the following areas:
“Higher education has seen a shift over the years, with an increasing number of students looking to learn online due to their demanding schedules,” said Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Jennifer Lopes. “The pandemic gave us a peek into the future of what could be done through our online learning platforms. These initial 12 programs of study and seven certificates are only the start as we look to expand our online catalog to meet the demands of our students.”
The catalog of online degrees and certificates will soon expand to 15 or more programs of study by the end of 2023. Jackson State will continue to assess additional programs to determine adaptability to online learning.
This push to online follows the news of JSCC receiving part of a $2.2 million grant from the Tennessee Board of Regents that is set to launch in the fall semester of 2023 under the name “Project Greenlight.” The college intends to use this grant, in part, to build rigorous and affordable online degree programs for its students.
