Jackson State Community College (JSCC) Athletics Department is set to host its inaugural JSCC Athletics Toy Drive, a community outreach event aimed at bringing holiday cheer to local families. This heartwarming initiative will take place on December 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until toys run out, in the JSCC Jackson campus parking lot in front of The Nest (Gymnasium). Children must be present in the car to receive a gift.
This Toy Drive aims to strengthen the college’s connection to its 10-county service area, by supporting families in need this holiday season. Jackson State student-athletes will dress up in holiday costumes, distributing gifts directly into cars throughout the event to create a joyful and fun experience for families.
In addition to the Toy Drive event, JSCC Athletics is now offering free admission to basketball games for anyone who donates a new, unopened toy for a child aged newborn to 17. This promotion will run from now until December 14th, allowing the community to support the Toy Drive while enjoying the excitement of our JSCC basketball teams.
"We’re thrilled to offer a holiday event that not only supports our local families but also gives our student-athletes a chance to serve our community," said Athletic Director Kevin Lynum. "This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact and spread joy in the lives of those we serve."
JSCC President Dr. Carol Rothstein expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “This Toy Drive reflects JSCC’s commitment to supporting and enriching the lives of those in communities across West Tennessee. I can’t wait to see all the families and the smiles on their faces!”
Community Engagement
The JSCC Athletics Department invites community members and local businesses to join in supporting this initiative. Those interested in donating to the Toy Drive are encouraged to contact Athletic Director Dr. Kevin Lynum at klynum1@jscc.edu.
