JSCC to Offer Real Estate Course

Workforce Solutions is set to host a 90-hour affiliate broker pre-licensure course beginning September 4. This entry-level course is designed for individuals interested in a career in real estate and will be held at the Jackson campus three nights a week for 11 weeks, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each night.

“We put together this course with flexibility in mind for the working adult who is interested in going into the world of real estate,” said John McCommon, Director of Workforce Solutions. “This is a great course that we have seen many West Tennesseans go through to obtain their license, with little upfront cost to do so.”

Upon successful completion of the 90-hour course, participants will be eligible to sit for the Tennessee Affiliate Broker Exam. Passing this exam qualifies individuals to become licensed affiliate brokers, allowing them to work under the supervision of a licensed real estate broker.

Prospective affiliate brokers must meet several basic requirements to obtain licensure, including:

• Being at least 18 years of age
• Possessing a high school diploma or equivalent
• Undergoing electronic fingerprinting
• Obtaining an Errors and Omissions Insurance Policy
• Paying all applicable license fees
• Verifying eligibility
• Completing the required pre-license education (such as this course)
