JTECH Frequently Asked Questions

JTECH is designed as a Middle College that's accessible to all students across West Tennessee looking to further their academic career in STEM. JTECH is both an option for students specifically looking at a STEM degree, as well as students who may have not be able to get into Early College High due to admission requirements and limited space.

Students can earn both high school and college credits simultaneously through JTECH, much like Middle College. This can reduce the time and cost required to complete a college degree, as many students will earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree in tandem with a high school diploma whereas dual enrollment is completed with the intention of earning transferable credit but not completing a degree in the same time period.

Jackson State is committed to providing students with a flexible course schedule, allowing students to maintain a synchronous schedule between high school and college classes. As JTECH expands, the program will establish cohorts, to allow an even more efficient scheduling system.

There will be no cost to students. Students enrolled in JTECH have costs covered through a combination of grants and scholarships, allowing a student to attend entirely for free.
