The Civil Engineering Pathway at Jackson State Community College is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in mathematics and science, preparing them for further education and a career as civil engineers. Students also complete courses in essential areas such as communications and computer science, with additional elective courses available. Emphasis is placed on applying knowledge and problem-solving skills in practical situations. This pathway allows students to complete the first two years of study with the advantages of a community college while preparing to transfer into a four-year engineering program. Students work closely with science and math faculty and have access to science labs and computer facilities. Completing the pathway equips students with strong academic skills and a solid understanding of science, mathematics, and fundamental engineering principles, making them well-prepared to pursue a bachelor’s degree.
