Learn more about the Mechanical Engineering Pathway

The Mechanical Engineering Pathway at Jackson State Community College is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in mathematics and science, preparing them to pursue further education and a career as a mechanical engineer. Students also complete courses in other essential areas, such as communications and computer science, with additional elective courses available. Emphasis is placed on applying knowledge and problem-solving in practical situations. The Associate of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering allows students to complete the first two years of study in a community college setting while preparing to transfer into a four-year engineering program. Students work closely with science and math faculty and have access to science labs and computer facilities. Completing the Associate’s Degree equips students with strong academic skills and an understanding of science, mathematics, and fundamental engineering principles, providing a solid foundation to pursue a bachelor’s degree.
