It is Jackson State's intent to provide an orderly due process for students who believe that they have been subjected to unfair treatment by other students or by college employees and are unable to achieve a resolution informally. Verbal resolution is recommended prior to the escalation to a written complaint. You may pursue the complaint process if you believe you have been unjustly subjected to threats, discrimination, harassment, or other conditions which may result in physical harm and/or emotional distress.
For concerns regarding grades and other academic concerns, the student should address the concern with the faculty member first.
If a satisfactory resolution is not reached, or the student is not comfortable speaking with the faculty member, the student should contact the Academic Dean first and then the Vice President of Academic Affairs if necessary.
For grades, see Grade Appeal Procedure (College Catalog page 23) for detailed instructions and timeline for complaints.
Students wishing to file a concern against another student are encouraged to initially contact the Dean for Students for guidance on the resolution process.
Written complaints may be completed through the the online complaint form at the button below.
See General Regulations on Student Conduct and Disciplinary Sanctions (Student Handbook page 238).
